With the launch of Ford Figo in the Indian auto market, the company plans to make its position stronger in the interminably growing hatchback segment..Ford Figo is available in both petrol and diesel models with four variants each. Its stylish look, exciting interior and exterior features and other advanced features at a comparatively low price tag woos the masses and even class.

The petrol version of Ford Figo is powered by the all new 1.2L petrol engine which produces 71Ps of maximum power and 102 Nm of peak torque while the diesel version of Ford Figo comes loaded with the company’s popular 1.4L, Duratorq diesel engine that currently powers Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta and has gained a lot of popularity for delivering high engine performance with good fuel economy. This Duratorq diesel engine produces 69PS of maximum power and 160 Nm of top torque.

The company has taken the price of the base variant of Hyundai i10  as its benchmark for the petrol variants of Ford Figo that is priced at Rs 3.5 to Rs 3.6 lacs. While the diesel variants of Ford Figo are priced in the range of Rs 4.5 to Rs 5.45 lacs.

FORD FIGO MILEAGE

Ford Figo is available in the Indian auto market in both petrol and diesel trims. The petrol variants of Ford Figo are packed with the all new 1.2L, 1196cc, Sequential Electric Fuel Injection (SEFI) engine with five-speed manual transmission. The petrol Figo gives a standard mileage of around 12.5 kmpl mileage in the city while on the highway it offers mileage around 15.5kmp .Diesel variants of Ford Figo are powered by Ford’s popular 1.4L, 1399cc, Duratorq diesel engine which has gained popularity since it delivers excellent drivability and fuel economy. This engine too, satisfies the BS-IV emission norms and delivers excellent power, performance and mileage. The 1.4L diesel engine offers a mileage of around 14.5 to 15kmpl in the city while on the highway it delivers a mileage of 18.5 kmpl.

POWER OF FORD FIGO

The petrol variants of Ford Figo have been equipped with the all new 1.2L, 1196cc, SEFI petrol engine with five speed manual transmission. The 1.2 litre petrol engine of Ford Figo produces 71PS(52.4) at 6250 rpm and pumps out 102 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.The diesel variants of Ford Figo are loaded with Ford’s popular 1.4L, 1399cc Duratorq diesel engine that delivers 69 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and produces a top torque of 160 Nm at 2,000 rpm. 

ACCELERATION AND PICK UP

The front of the Ford Figo looks balanced as all the features are added in a specific way. The headlight cluster is big and bold with bright lights. The distinctive human-eye shaped headlights come with halogen headlamps and turn indicators which are clearly visible during any part of the day. The turn indicators are placed above the headlight. The car features a fog lamp slot at both sides at the front. These fog lamps can be incorporated in the car at an extra cost.Side view mirrors and door handle bars are painted the same as the body color and enhance the sporty look of the Ford Figo. The front and the rear bumper is body colored.The rear of Ford Figo is also well-decorated that turns your head. To give a wide opening to the rear hatch, taillights are made in vertical shape. The vertical stacked taillight cluster comprised of brake light, turn indicator and reverse light. The taillights stretched to the rear end of the roof but started from the middle of the rear hatch. A LED brake light display is also added at the rear end of the roof.

FORD FIGO INTERIOR

Figo is provided with top of its class features which were not seen in compact cars in India so far. The cabin of the car is equipped with enticing fabric, equipment and seating arrangement. The driver seat is adjustable and comfy. The dashboard of Ford Figo is packed with advanced stereo and instrument panel. The rounded AC vents are placed facing the driver and the front passenger.Ford Figo comes with a three-spoke power steering. The attractively colored dashboard that comprises of a digital odometer and trip meter boasts of a sporty and a stunning look. The audio system is adorned with silver outlines and black colored audio machine. Figo also includes an MP3 player, Radio (AM/FM) and 4 speakers. Bluetooth connectivity deserves a special mention as you can add 4 mobile devices to it.

 

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE

Ford Figo, is located under the front hood. The variants of the Ford Figo are fitted with all new powerplants. The petrol variants of the Figo are powered by 1.2L, 1196cc engine. The engine type comprises of four cylinder, DOHC, SEFI and front wheel drive. The base variant incorporates five speed manual transmission. The 1.2L petrol engine pumps out 71 PS of peak power at 6,250 rpm while it generates 102 Nm of top torque at 4,000 rpm.the diesel engine of Ford Figo is loaded with higher displacement that is 1399cc. The 1.4L Duratorq diesel engine comprises of four cylinders, SOHC, Common Rail and front wheel drive. Like the petrol variant, the base variant of the car has a five-speed gearbox. The diesel mill of Ford Figo is capable of generating a maximum power of 69 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 160 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

HANDLING AND SAFETY

Ford Figo is provided with Dual front airbags. The dual front airbags come into action when a front collision happens, providing maximum safety to the front passenger and driver. Apart from that, the higher-end variant is equipped with keyless entry feature that has been named as Smart Programmable Remote Key that ensures opening all four doors or only the door at the driver's side when needed without the key.Ford Figo comes with some very interesting and safety features including power door locks, power windows, day and night rear view mirror, passenger side rear view mirror and central locking that further ensure safety and security. In addition to this, engine immobilizer is also added to the Ford Figo.

 

 STEREO AND ACCESSORIES IN FORD FIGO  

Ford Figo is blessed with an excellent MP3 player and Radio (AM/FM) along with 4 speakers. This can not be termed as an advanced or latest audio system but satisfies the need of an audio system. Front and rear side speakers are also present. You can enjoy the audio system by a single touch of remote control. Phone Interface through Bluetooth can also be enjoyed. The Bluetooth connectivity allows you to check call logs, SMS, phone book etc without picking up the handset in hand.
